ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My name is Vanessa Filkins, and I am a photographer located in Austin, Texas. I create unique, high quality, photojournalistic portraits of people, pets, and landscapes. I have been active in professional photography for a short time, but love learning new things every day. I shoot with a Canon digital camera.

I believe in photography as art and function, and I want people to see themselves looking beautiful in my photographs. I want my photos to be the kind that are kissed, stuck underneath pith helmets in the jungle, hung in hallways, hid under pillows; the kind that you still remind you of who that person was to you when that person is gone from earth.
